Terms of Sale
Our goal is to create perfect matches that result in both happy buyers and happy animals. This begins with clear expectations and ends in lifetime support for as long as you own your animal. Below is a list of important facts you need to know about your purchase from Cone Ranch. Goat Kidding Waiting ListYou can be placed on a first come/first served waiting list on a specific doe/buck pairing from the Breeding Schedule by emailing, texting or calling me. This no obligation, no cost hold allows you to have a better chance at getting a kid out of a particular doe. I will ask questions to help you make informed decisions on what kids fit your needs for a perfect match. Being added to our waiting list does NOT guarantee you a kid. We reserve the right to retain any and all kids as well as the right to approve or deny sales as we see fit.Kids sell quickly once born. If you are on the waiting list, I will email you when kids are available and you will have 24 hours to respond and confirm or decline your reservation. If you don’t respond within 24 hours, I will continue down the waiting list or make the kid available to general sales. If you do want to purchase the kid born, you have 24 hours from confirmation to make your deposit. DepositsDeposits are typically half (50%) of the selling price of an animal and must be received within 24 hours of when you notify us of your intent to purchase an animal. I recommend making deposits using PayPal to ensure they are received in time. If paying by PayPal we ask that you send it friends/family or that you add 4% to the total cost that you are paying each time. You can also send PayPal payment as gift to friend/family and it will not charge. If you change your mind and do not purchase the goat, the deposit will NOT be refunded.Unless the animal you are buying becomes unavailable for any reason, deposits are not refundable, but may be transferred to another animal at our discretion. We reserve the right to withdraw any animal from availability for any reason at any time. If this happens, we will refund your deposit. There will be NO refunds on canceled orders. Once a buyer cancels the sale of a goat, all funds paid to Cone Ranch are forfeited. Goats are not considered bought until paid in full. PaymentPayment can be made via cash or PayPal but must be cleared and the animal paid in full before it can leave our farm. If paying by PayPal we ask that you send it friends/family or that you add 4% to the total cost that you are paying each time. You can also send PayPal payment as gift to friend/family and it will not charge. ALL GOAT SALES ARE FINAL!
Boarding/Care FeeAnimals must be picked up within seven days after your agreement to purchase or the date the animal is available (weaning date for kids). If you cannot take possession of your animal within seven days, a care fee of $5 per day may be assessed and payment will be due before the animal will be released to you. If this fee is not paid or the animal is not picked up within 7 days after the pickup date, the animal will be considered abandoned and will be relisted for sale. Any funds paid will be forfeited by the buyer and applied to the cost of boarding/caring for and advertising the animal. If we, Cone Ranch, decide that a kid needs to stay longer for health and/or wellness concerns, no additional fees will be required from the buyer for the kid staying longer.
HealthWe will never sell any animal with a known health problem or genetic defect unless it is mutually agreed upon by both buyer and seller, with full disclosure and any available health or veterinary records. In general, animals with genetic defects will be culled or sold without registration papers, depending on the defect. Because of variables beyond our control, including but not limited to stress, from weaning and travel, improper feeding or shelter, lack of medical care, or possible contact with untested animals or their milk, we cannot offer any health guarantee once the animal has left our property. Please note that the health and well-being of the goats is our utmost priority. If we feel that the kid is not in perfect health at the originally set pick-up time, we will give you the option for us to hold onto the kid until their health improves, transfer your reservation to a different available kid, or cancel your reservation in which all monies paid to us will be refunded to you. Additionally, regarding transportation of the goat/s, if we feel the transportation method is unsafe for the goat/s, we reserve the right to refuse transportation until the concerns are addressed. The last thing any of us want is for a goat/s to get hurt on their way to their new home. Our preference is for the goats to be inside a secured pen or crate inside a vehicle or trailer. A sturdy tote in the bed of a truck that is well strapped and secured down and that has a cover to keep the goat shaded from the sun and the elements is also fine. VaccinationsBecause of our commitment to natural health and the body’s own healing abilities, we do not and will not vaccinate goats on our farm. Should you choose to vaccinate an animal you purchase from us, it will be at your expense and after you have taken possession of the animal.
Registration (if applicable)Goats (except pet wethers) will be registered with ADGA. You can provide us with up to three name choices and we will do our best to accommodate them, but we have the right to refuse a name we don’t want to be associated with our herd. We recommend that the buyer submit completed registration paperwork to ADGA (American Dairy Goat Association) as soon as possible after purchasing the goat, to avoid late fees and/or costs associated with replacing lost paperwork. The buyer is responsible for submitting the registration paperwork to ADGA and paying the registration and transfer fees.Lost paperwork policy: In the event that sales paperwork is lost, the buyer agrees to pay seller $10 per goat for replacement sales paperwork, plus any additional applicable charges from ADGA. Buyer’s Responsibilities Buyer is responsible for determining if their property is zoned for livestock prior to purchasing goats.Buyer agrees to provide the following: safe shelter from the elements and other hazards, proper medical care, adequate fencing to safely contain the goats, and proper feed (including the following items available free choice at all times: goat minerals, baking soda – to balance rumen ph, and hay or pasture browse). Commercial goat feed (NOT medicated) can be given in very limited quantities. Goats can become seriously ill and may die if they eat too much commercial goat feed or eat improper food (including, but not limited to: other pet food, people food, or poisonous plants). Goats are herd animals, therefore, single goats will only be sold to buyers that already own goats. Routine goat care buyer will need to perform includes: regular trimming of hoofs and worming as needed per fecal testing or FAMACHA eye color chart.
Updates/PhotosGetting a new goat is an exciting thing! We completely understand that and try to provide updates to our Facebook page with photos whenever possible. I generally go out several times a week to try to get photos, but with dozens of kids (sometimes it feels like dozens of human kids too), it can be difficult to get updated photos of each kid on a regular basis.Spring is our busy time of year and we’re usually running trying to accomplish all that needs be done. In light of this, it is not always possible for us to respond to individual requests for photo updates. Please follow our Facebook page for photo updates as your babies grow.
Lifetime SupportYour relationship with us doesn’t end when you leave with your new animal. We want to be here for you for as long as you own your Cone Ranch animal. You can call, email or contact us on Facebook to get help with any questions you might have both before and after the sale. Even if things are going great, we still want to hear from you and follow along with your story.
Taking Animals BackIf, for any reason, you find that you are unable to care for an animal you purchased from us, simply get in touch. While we cannot purchase back animals, we may take them back at our discretion or try to help you find them a new home. This is determined on a case by case basis, but we will always do our best to help our customers and our animals. While some of this may sound over-whelming, these policies were put in place to protect us as breeders/sellers, the buyers, and the goats. If there are any questions or concerns about any of our policies, please feel free to message us! We are more than happy to talk goats and work with any and all potential or repeat buyers!
